Matt Tierney (online, Matt Leaf) is a musician and audio-visual artist from Australia. Between software programs, electronic instruments, guitar, cameras, and appropriated content, Tierney navigates a range of approaches to digital media in an evolving body of work that is often abstract, and multi-lingual in its approach. In recent years he has been a recipient of numerous grants from funding bodies such as the Australia Council for the Arts, CAL Australia, JUMP Mentoring and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust. He has participated in Artist in Residence programs with BIG CI in the Blue Mountains NSW, ANAT in Perth, and Harvestworks in NYC. Most recent activity has seen live performances in Australia and the United States under the name ‘PROGRAMS’, with installation work exhibited under the name ‘Leaf-tierney’ at West Space, Liquid Architecture Festival, NEW LOW, Blindside, Screen Space, various BYOB shows, and Design Festa Gallery in Tokyo. Tierney is currently pursuing a Master of Design (Research) program in Digital Arts, at Monash University in Melbourne.
