Sarah Kate Jones Buckley is Shuttersound, a Melbourne based DJ and producer deeply embedded in the underground music scene. A fresh face with a lot of bass, Shuttersound embraces the energetic, the dynamic and the creative.
Growing up in a music lovers’ household, she was immersed in the sounds of Queen, Al Green, David Bowie, Neil Young, and Michael Jackson. Her teen years brought the discovery of soulful hip hop and booty shaking breakbeats, from here her music addiction was born. Shuttersound’s influences range from Tipper, Four Tet and Dark Sky, to Jamie Lidell, Donald Byrd and the super smooth Erykah Badu.

With a firm belief in honest music, Shuttersound approaches her work with energetic passion. From her monthly show ‘bass regime’ on trnsmt and the ever eclectic weekly ‘dinner sessions’ at the Thornbury Local, to the hugely successful Beat Buffet charity events, of which she is a key organiser and creator as well as performer, Shuttersound is making a vibrant and exciting contribution to the Melbourne underground scene. Her recent support of UK artist Owen Howells at TransMelbourne Xpress highlighted Shuttersound as a

true progressive house bass queen.

With a keen sense of garage and clipped 2step patterns with big bottom end, you can expect to hear a smooth funky shuffle with lush house melodies and deep dance floor shaking bass.
